ICCU Mosaic Quarter Jobs: Rink, Restaurant and Event Work Coming in 2027
TUCSON, AZ — The big sports complex rising across I-10 from the Kino Sports Complex has a new name and a firm opening season, and that puts a new batch of Tucson jobs on the 2027 calendar. Idaho Central Credit Union has signed a 20-year naming-rights deal, so Mosaic Quarter becomes ICCU Mosaic Quarter. Its three-rink Iceplex opens in spring 2027, and a two-story Field House follows that summer.
Ice rinks, three restaurants, team stores and event space on the south side. Mosaic Quarter jobs aren't posted yet, but the company is already taking names for full-time, part-time and seasonal work.

A New Name on the South Side's Biggest Build
Under the agreement, announced by ICCU in September, the whole 90-acre campus takes the credit union's name, MQ Iceplex becomes ICCU Iceplex and MQ Field House becomes ICCU Field House. Terms weren't disclosed. The new branding rolls out in phases through the 2027 opening, and the partners plan an annual spring weekend of sports and entertainment called the ICCU-MQ Community Cares Festival.
ICCU, based in Chubbuck, Idaho, came to Tucson in 2025 by merging with Tucson Old Pueblo Credit Union and says it's looking at adding branches around town.
What Opens in 2027
ICCU Iceplex, spring 2027. The 175,000-square-foot building holds three NHL regulation rinks, including a 3,000-seat arena rink that will be home ice for University of Arizona hockey. The Tucson Junior Roadrunners will run the house youth league, the Tucson Adult Hockey League moves in, and MyHockey Tournaments plans to bring national youth tournaments. Add public skating, ice bumper cars and curling, plus a full-service restaurant, a team store and pro shop, and private event rooms. The announcement noted that Tucson's growing youth hockey programs now share a single seasonal sheet of ice and often drive to other Arizona cities for more.
MQ Crossing, spring 2027. An outdoor gathering area next to the Iceplex with a casual restaurant, an event plaza for live music and movies, a splash pad and a memorial garden honoring veterans.
ICCU Field House, summer 2027. Two floors of convertible courts and turf, each about a quarter larger than a football field, for basketball, volleyball, pickleball, indoor soccer and mat sports, plus another restaurant, a second team store, an event center and rooftop patios.
Later phases call for a stadium, a second sportsplex, a pavilion and hotels, with no opening dates yet.
Hiring Hasn't Started, but the List Is Open
Mosaic Quarter's employment page is upfront: no open positions today. It does take an interest form, which asks whether you want full-time, year-round part-time or seasonal part-time work, and which area you're after:
- Management and administration
- Marketing and communications
- Facility operations and maintenance
- Sports and recreation staff
- Events and guest services
- Retail and pro shop
- Food and beverage
- Hospitality and lodging
- Groundskeeping and security
The page is also available in Spanish. Job estimates in past news coverage have varied widely, and Mosaic Quarter hasn't published a headcount or hiring schedule. Mosaic Quarter president Lindsay Knott pictured a kid who learns to skate at the Iceplex someday working a shift there, which is about as clear a signal as you'll get that local hiring is part of the plan.
There's a training pipeline, too. Pima Community College will run hands-on workforce training at the venues in hospitality, culinary arts, business, construction, sports injury management and more, and Pima JTED students get sports-medicine internships. TMC Health and Tucson Orthopaedic Institute are the official sports medicine partners, with certified athletic trainers at events and a planned 20,000-square-foot on-site medical center.
What It Means for Tucson Job Seekers
These roles are anticipated from what's being built, not posted openings. Projects like this usually hire managers first, then front-line staff in the months before each building opens.
- Restaurant crews: three restaurants across Phase I means line cooks, servers, bartenders and hosts.
- Team store and pro shop: retail sales associates and cashiers selling gear, apparel and skate services.
- Events and guest services: birthday parties, tournaments, rooftop receptions and an event center need event coordinators, guest services staff and banquet servers.
- Rink and recreation staff: skate rental, open-skate monitors, league and program staff. If you've played or coached hockey, figure skating or court sports, say so on the form.
- Facility operations: ice plants, HVAC and two big buildings mean work for maintenance technicians and HVAC technicians.
- Construction, right now: Phase I is still being built, with Hensel Phelps as general contractor. See construction laborer and electrician guides.
