A Choice Greens Spot Becomes a Full-Service Restaurant
If you've grabbed a salad at Joesler Village, you know the space. Suite 119 used to be a Choice Greens. Owners Jeff Katz and Paolo DeFilippis closed that location to build something bigger, and Tucson Foodie reports the project took about a year, including six or seven months redesigning the room.
The result is a roughly 3,500-square-foot restaurant with a dining room, a bar that seats guests indoors and out, and a patio where dogs are welcome. Katz describes it as "a modern American eatery with elevated but approachable food." The menu is still being finalized, but the plan calls for appetizers, hand-helds, salads, entrées and desserts, with vegetarian and gluten-free options throughout. Entrées are expected to land in the $22 to $35 range.
The name nods to Josias Joesler, the Swiss-born architect whose plaster-and-beam style shaped St. Philip's in the Hills, at the same River and Campbell intersection, and much of the Catalina Foothills. The shopping center already carries his name. Now the restaurant does too.
💼 The Jobs: Front of House and Back
Joesler Kitchen lists five kinds of openings: servers, back servers, bartenders, hosts and kitchen team members. It held a hiring fair at the restaurant on Sunday, October 25, and the restaurant's own site still invites applications online, so the door hasn't closed.
The owners haven't published pay, headcount or a hard opening date. Don't wait on any of those. A restaurant this size, open seven days a week from 11 AM to 9 or 10 PM, needs full lunch and dinner crews, and the first hires usually go through training together before the doors open. Applying now is how you get into that first group.
The bar matters here, too. A full beer, wine and cocktail program at a foothills restaurant with indoor and patio seats is a good fit for experienced bartenders who want a steady neighborhood crowd rather than a late-night scene.
💰 Pay and the River Road City Line
No wages have been posted, so here's the floor. In Tucson, the minimum wage depends on where the work happens. Inside city limits it's $15.45 an hour in 2026. Outside them, including the unincorporated Catalina Foothills, the Arizona minimum of $15.15 applies. River Road runs close to that line, and we haven't confirmed which side Joesler Village sits on, so ask during your interview. Arizona also lets employers pay tipped staff up to $3 an hour less than the minimum, as long as tips make up the difference.
Both rates go up on January 1. Our 2027 minimum wage breakdown has the new numbers and explains the city line in more detail.
