TUCSON, AZ — The biggest open-door job fair on Tucson's fall calendar is set. The Pima County One-Stop Community Job Fair returns to the Kino Event Center on Tuesday, October 6, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., with up to 50 employers expected on the floor and ten industries represented, from healthcare and aviation to construction, call centers and warehouses.

One afternoon, one room, up to 50 employers, and no industry requirement to walk in. If you only make one job fair this fall, this is the one built for everybody.

🏛️ What the Community Job Fair Is

This is the fall edition of a fair Pima County's Community & Workforce Development team runs twice a year at the Kino campus, once in the spring and once in October. The county's flyer for October 6 promises up to 50 employers, and the pitch is simple: come dressed for success and bring your resume.

It is worth separating from the other events that share the same stretch of Ajo Way, because they blur together fast:

This fair is the One-Stop's multi-employer community event. Private companies, school districts, agencies and nonprofits all share the floor, and it is open to the general public.
The Pima County Career Fair is a different series run by county Human Resources and built around county departments. We covered the most recent one in our August 19 Pima County Career Fair guide.
Single-employer recruiting events, like the Afni event on September 23, happen next door at the Kino Service Center, 2797 E. Ajo Way. Different building, different parking lot.

For October 6 you want the Kino Event Center at 2805 E. Ajo Way, the large hall on the Kino campus near Country Club Road.

📈 Why This One Draws a Crowd

These fairs are not sleepy. When the county promoted last October's edition, KVOA reported that the spring fair before it had pulled in more than 1,000 job seekers, and a county workforce official said employers had been interviewing on the floor and making same-day offers. That is the reason the resume line on the flyer is not a suggestion.

The county also recruits for itself here. Ahead of this year's April 7 fair, KOLD reported Pima County had 143 open positions of its own, and a county business services manager stressed that a number of them do not require prior experience. Expect the county to have a table again, alongside everyone else.

One honest caveat: the employer roster for October 6 has not been published yet. The county lists industries, not company names. We will update this post if a confirmed list is released.

💼 What It Means for Job Seekers

Ten industries is a wide net. Here is how the county's list translates into the kinds of roles that typically get recruited at a fair like this, with a guide for each if you want to study up first:

Healthcare: caregivers, medical assistants, CNAs, front-office and support staff. Start with healthcare careers in Tucson.

Treat those as the shape of the room, not a promise of specific openings. Which jobs are actually on the table depends on which employers confirm.

📝 How to Work a 50-Employer Room in Three Hours

Three hours sounds like plenty. It is not, once a line forms at the popular tables. A few things separate the people who leave with interviews from the people who leave with pens:

Print 15 to 20 resumes. One page, clean, current phone number and email. A folder keeps them from looking like they rode in your back pocket.
Get there at 1:00. Recruiters are freshest in the first hour, and some pack up early if traffic slows after 3:00.
Pick two or three industries before you walk in. Hit those tables first, then browse.
Have a 20-second introduction ready. Who you are, what you have done, what shift or schedule you can work. Say it out loud once in the car.
Dress one notch above the job. The flyer says dressed for success. Business casual covers every table in the room.
Bring your license and certification details if you work in a credentialed field: CDL class and endorsements, CNA number, forklift card, fingerprint clearance.
Write down names. Follow up within 48 hours while they still remember your face.

The flyer is printed in English and Spanish, and the county notes that auxiliary aids and services are available on request for people with disabilities. If you need an accommodation, call the One-Stop ahead of time rather than asking at the door.

🧭 Getting to the Kino Event Center

The Kino Event Center sits on the Kino campus along East Ajo Way near Country Club Road, a few minutes off I-10 via the Kino Parkway exit. From the east side, take Golf Links to Alvernon and cut over to Ajo. From the south side, Country Club Road runs you straight up to it. Parking at the venue is in surface lots next to the building.

🌵 The Bigger Picture in Tucson Right Now

October is when the Old Pueblo's hiring peaks. Resorts and restaurants are staffing for winter visitors, distribution centers are building holiday crews, Sprouts is staffing a new Rita Ranch store for an October 30 opening, and Casino Del Sol's new west-side property is weeks from its November debut. Employers who take a table at Kino in early October are, for the most part, trying to fill seats before the holidays, not collecting resumes for spring.
