A Tucson Dairy Comes Home to Southern Arizona

Shamrock started in Tucson in 1922 as a family dairy with 20 cows and one truck. A century later it's a Phoenix-based food giant, still family-owned, with foodservice distribution centers across the West and the Shamrock Farms dairy brand on grocery shelves nationwide.

Southern Arizona's turn came in September 2022, when Shamrock paid about $18.2 million for 81 acres at Crossroads at Gladden, next to the Gladden Farms neighborhood. Amazon had looked at the same corner before building at Ina and Silverbell instead. Marana's economic development director told KGUN at the time that Shamrock planned to serve Tucson, San Diego and El Paso from the site, and in 2024 he told KOLD the company was planning a 225,000- to 250,000-square-foot building. Shamrock itself hasn't published a size or a headcount.

From Dirt to Hiring

The Town of Marana's development updates listed the Shamrock project as under construction or recently completed in both February and July 2026. The first Marana job postings went up in August, and the push picked up this month with a "Now Hiring in Marana" social post and a dedicated Southern Arizona careers page. The job titles say a lot about the building. Shamrock is hiring an ASRS maintenance mechanic and electromechanical technicians to keep "automation equipment" running. ASRS stands for automated storage and retrieval system, the cranes and conveyors that move pallets and cases on their own. Captain postings mention temperature zones from 5 below zero to ambient, so expect freezer and cooler work, not just dry storage.

A strong back. These roles regularly lift up to 100 pounds and frequently lift 50.
Open availability. Expect nights, weekends and holidays. Day shifts run "until finish," not to a set clock time.
Cold tolerance. Several roles mention refrigerated rooms and temperature-controlled zones.
