🚗 Who's Behind the Royal Career Fair
Two local names are teaming up here. SER-Jobs for Progress of Southern Arizona is a south side nonprofit, based on West 28th Street, that helps Tucson adults get trained and placed in jobs. Its services include job training and placement, English classes, adult basic education and GED prep, all at no cost to the people it serves.
Royal Automotive Group is the host. Its careers page describes a team of about 500 employees across six Tucson campuses and two collision centers, selling and servicing Lexus, Kia, Buick, GMC, Cadillac, Jaguar and Land Rover, with a pre-owned supercenter and MINI service on East 22nd Street. The fair takes place at the group's Buick GMC Cadillac store at the Tucson Auto Mall, just off I-10.
The event is listed on the ARIZONA@WORK Pima County One-Stop calendar of upcoming recruitment events. This is the seventh year SER has run the fair.
🔧 The Dealership Jobs on the List
The county listing names seven kinds of jobs, plus "more." Here's what each one usually involves at a dealership:
- Auto and diesel technicians diagnose and repair cars and trucks in the service bays. Dealership techs often train on the brands they service, and many shops pay on a flat-rate system, so experience shows up in the paycheck.
- Body shop and collision technicians repair frames, panels and paint after accidents. Royal runs two collision centers, including one near the Auto Mall on West Competition Road.
- Parts and warranty associates keep the service department supplied and handle the paperwork that gets manufacturer warranty work paid. Detail-minded people with retail or office experience do well here.
- Vehicle sales representatives work the showroom floor. It's the role where people skills matter more than mechanical ones.
- Maintenance technicians keep the buildings, lifts and equipment running.
- Cashiers handle payments at the service counter.
- Parts drivers run parts between stores and to local repair shops. A clean driving record usually comes with the territory.
Openings change, so search Royal Automotive jobs before you go and note the ones that fit.
💰 What About Pay?
Neither SER nor Royal has posted pay rates for the fair. Technician pay at dealerships typically depends on certifications and how many flat-rate hours a tech turns, and sales roles usually lean on commission. Ask directly at the fair. Our guide to auto mechanic and technician jobs in Tucson covers who's hiring across the city and what the work pays.
✅ How to Make the Most of a Friday Evening Career Fair
- Confirm before you drive. The listing gives a 5:30 p.m. start but no end time and no registration details. Call SER at (520) 623-5754 or the One-Stop at (520) 724-7700 to check.
- Bring proof of your skills. Techs should bring copies of ASE or manufacturer certifications and a list of the tools they own. Drivers should know their record and bring their license.
- Know which department you want. Service, collision, parts and sales hire for different strengths. Say up front which one you're after, and which one is your backup.
- Bring the basics. A photo ID, a few printed resumes and a short, practiced introduction.

- Recent automotive or diesel program grads looking for a first service bay.
- Retail and customer service workers eyeing parts, warranty, cashier or sales jobs.
