🏛 What the County Has Announced So Far

Pima County's flyer keeps it simple: a date, a time, a place and an invitation to "explore roles across the region and find a path that fits your skills and goals." The county lists the fair on its Jobs & Careers page as a chance to meet county departments and community partners and learn about career opportunities.

What it hasn't posted yet is the employer roster. If you want the list the moment it's out, the county runs a career fair notification list you can sign up for.

🔥 Who Has Recruited at Past County Fairs

We can't promise who will be at the November tables. We can tell you who has shown up before. At the county's July 2025 fair, KGUN 9 counted 14 county departments, among them the Sheriff's Department, Superior Court, Juvenile Court, the Library, Parks and Recreation, Regional Wastewater and Information Technology. Outside the county, recruiters included Tucson Police, the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the state Department of Corrections, the Federal Bureau of Prisons, SunTran, Pima Community College and several school districts, Tucson Unified and Sunnyside among them.

Treat that as a sense of the mix, not a guest list.

💼 The Kinds of Jobs a County Fair Covers

Government hiring runs wider than most people expect:

  • Office and records work: administrative assistants, clerks and court and records staff
  • Public safety: detention and corrections officers, deputies and police recruits
  • Health and human services: public health nurses, case managers and community health workers
  • Operations and trades: facilities maintenance, wastewater operators and parks crews
  • Tech and analysis: IT support, GIS and data roles
  • Schools: teachers, aides, bus drivers and support staff, when districts attend

Some entry-level county jobs need only a high school diploma; others need a license or degree. Every posting lists its minimum qualifications and pay range.

💰 Pay, Pension and Benefits

Pay varies by job and each posting lists its own range, so we won't guess at a number. The benefits are what draw a lot of people to public work, and Pima County spells those out:

  • A pension through the Arizona State Retirement System, or the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System, depending on the job
  • 12 paid holidays a year
  • 120 hours of vacation and 120 hours of sick leave in your first year, and they roll over
  • Up to $5,250 a year in education reimbursement
  • 12 weeks of paid parental leave for eligible employees

Veterans, applicants with a disability and Native American applicants who aren't already county employees can claim up to 15 employment preference points. The points are added only after you earn a passing score on your own, and they apply to an initial hire. The claim form is linked from the county's Jobs & Careers page.

✅ How to Make the Most of It

  • Start a profile before you go. Pima County hires through its online careers portal. Having your account set up and your work history entered saves real time.
  • Bring printed resumes. Plenty of them, plus a pen and a notepad for names and job numbers.
  • Get there early. The first hour is usually the calmest, and recruiters have more time to talk.
