Biergarten German Kitchen & Bar Opens June 5, Bringing New Restaurant Jobs to Tucson's West Side

Schnitzel, spaetzle and a half-dozen German taps finally land at Grant and Silverbell, and a new west-side employer comes with them.
TUCSON, AZ — After more than a year of permit fights, code violations and licensing delays, the corner of Grant and Silverbell finally has its beer garden. Biergarten German Kitchen & Bar opens its doors Friday, June 5, at 1 p.m., bringing authentic Bavarian cooking and imported German beer to Tucson's west side, and adding a brand-new full-service restaurant to a stretch of town that's been waiting on one.
A West-Side Opening More Than a Year in the Making
Owners Andre and Silke Linke grew up in Neu-Ulm, Germany, sold their house, and moved their family to Tucson on an investor visa to build the restaurant from the ground up. They took over the former Famous Sam's space at 2320 N. Silverbell Rd., a west-side fixture for 28 years before it closed in late 2025.
What the Linkes expected to be a routine buildout turned into months of setbacks: outdated building plans, architect requirements, health-department approvals and licensing fees, all while their visa clock ticked. June 5 has been a long time coming for this family, and for the neighborhood that's watched the sign go up at Grant and Silverbell.
What's on the Menu (and the Taps)
The kitchen leans fully traditional. "No tacos, no burgers," as Andre put it. Expect schnitzel served several ways, cordon bleu stuffed with Black Forest ham and Swiss, and a lineup of sausages including bratwurst, beer brats and Nürnberger-style pork. German classics like sauerbraten, rouladen and gulasch round out the mains, with fresh-baked pretzels, house-made mustard, obatzda, potato pancakes and baked brie to start. Save room for housemade strudel, Black Forest cake and bee sting cake.
Behind the bar, a half-dozen imported German beers pour on tap, from the malty Hofbräu München to a premium dunkel from Warsteiner. The space spans roughly 2,900 square feet with about 87 seats, including a 26-seat patio built to capture that classic outdoor beer-garden feel under Tucson's sun.
Grand Opening Day
The June 5 grand opening kicks off at 1 p.m. with live music, a raffle and cotton candy, plus free Jägermeister and Aperol Spritz from 5 to 7 p.m. Regular hours run Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Reservations are available at biergarten-tucson.com.
What It Means for Tucson Job Seekers
A new 87-seat full-service restaurant doesn't run on its own. From day one, a spot like Biergarten leans on a full crew, and growing restaurants tend to refresh and expand their teams through those busy first months. Curious whether anything's posted yet?
