$70 Million Investment Creates Economic Impact

This major expansion represents a $70 million investment and the creation of 300+ new high-wage jobs in the Tucson metro area. What makes this particularly attractive? The average salary is $77,000, placing these positions among the highest-paying aviation careers in Southern Arizona.

What Positions Need to Be Filled?

Ascent is actively recruiting for a wide range of roles. Jobs include mechanic jobs, assembly jobs and other logistics positions. The company already employs more than 500 workers at Marana Aerospace and at a maintenance operation at Tucson International Airport, and these new hangars will substantially grow their workforce.

No aviation background? No problem. Ascent offers comprehensive training programs and will sponsor employees through FAA certification courses, making this an excellent entry point into the aerospace industry.

Long-Term Job Security

Unlike temporary construction jobs, these are permanent positions backed by solid contracts. The new facilities will perform airliner freight conversions for an Israeli company through a 15-year agreement with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).

David Querio, President and CEO of Ascent Aviation Services, stated: "This contract and these hangars give them multi-year stability and knowing that there's gonna be jobs here for them".

Doubling Down on Capacity

The two new 90,000-square-foot wide-body maintenance hangars at Pinal Air Park (MZJ) facility in Marana, Arizona significantly expand operational capabilities. The $70 million investment will increase the facility's hangar capacity by 200%, enabling the company to undertake more extensive heavy maintenance.

The facility will specialize in converting two lines of Boeing B777-300ER aircraft for Israel Aerospace Industries, transforming passenger planes into freight carriers.

Local Training Partnerships

Ascent collaborates closely with Pima Community College's FAA-accredited Aviation Technology Program, creating a clear pathway for Tucson residents to gain credentials without leaving the region. This partnership ensures a steady pipeline of qualified technicians ready to fill these high-demand roles.

Why Ascent Aviation?

Ascent has evolved into one of the largest independent aircraft aftermarket services providers in the world, operating across more than 1,250 acres in Southern Arizona. Their services include:

  • Aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO)
  • Passenger-to-freighter conversions

With this expansion, Ascent solidifies its position as one of Tucson's premier aerospace employers.
